Train Tracks

Sitting on the train the other night (an urban train… CTA) I felt the sadness coming, which could have simply been frost from the window but it definitely set the mood. I turned up my iPod and began looking for songs that matched the moment, that helped release melancholy by embracing it. One of these songs I had just sang that evening during a Karaoke party, and the rest just snuggled up next to it with perfect harmony.  And so I give you “Train Tracks”.

You may be interested to know, however, that the tracks featured on the cover of this mix are of a very different sort. They are what I always thought to be and so referred to as “The World’s Steepest Railroad Grade” — so named on some drawing hanging in my Grandfather’s house. They exist in my home town and I had several important trips up and down these tracks with special boys and girls.  Such memories I recall and you can imagine while you play these songs.
